Job interview questions and answers, by role

Pick your job. Each guide covers the questions hiring managers really ask for that role, what they're listening for, and how to shape an answer that still sounds like you.

The first interview guides are on their way.

Questions almost every interviewer asks

These show up no matter the job. Get them right once and you can reuse the bones of each answer everywhere.

  1. Tell me about yourself.

Give the short story of your work so far and end on why this job is the next step.

  2. Why do you want this job?

Name one thing about the role and one about the company, and say why each fits you.

  3. What's your biggest strength?

Pick the strength this job needs most and back it with one real example.

  4. Tell me about a mistake you made.

Own it in a sentence, then spend the rest of the answer on what you changed.

  5. Where do you see yourself in a few years?

Show you'd grow here: name a skill you want to build that this job would teach you.

  6. Do you have any questions for us?

Always say yes. Ask about the team, the first month or how they measure good work.
